Primary (non-rechargeable) Cells

Electrochem advances the art of high reliability primary lithium cells to achieve optimal performance. Electrochem primary cells are refined and enhanced to minimize Passivation while enabling peak currents to over 4 amperes per cell. The high rate sulfuryl and bromine chloride chemistries (CSC and BSX) deliver an incredible 3.93 V, open circuit. The new “Tall Super D” (TSD) cell offers a capacity of over 40 Ah. Overall, Electrochem primary lithium cells offer one of the highest levels of reliability and maximum energy density available today.

Product Highlights:

  • Support for extreme operating temperatures (-55°C to +200°C)
  • Support for high shock (up to 3,000g) and vibration (up to 40grms)
  • Highest energy density available in the industry (up to 15 watt hours per cubic inch…nearly 3 times higher than Alkaline)
  • Cell construction includes electrolytes that are refined and enhanced to minimize passivation while enabling peak currents to over 4 amperes per cell
  • New product development has added safe and reliable lithium cells with capacity over 40Ah.
  • Cell and pack protective circuitry and glass-to-metal hermetic seals further ensure safe, reliable performance in the most demanding applications

Selecting the Right Primary Cell for Your Application

One of the main considerations in selecting the right battery for your application is “current capability” (discharge rate). Although “current capability” is dependent on cell size, internal cell construction is an important factor. Click on the links below for cell specifications and data sheets.

High Rate (Spiral Wound) Cells
Electrochem High Rate cells are designed with the highest internal surface area capable of delivering superior continuous and pulsed currents under harsh environmental conditions. Electrochem High Rate cells are available in multiple sizes and chemistries to power a wide range of applications.

Moderate Rate (Dual Anode) Cells
Electrochem moderate rate lithium cells are designed with high internal surface area capable of delivering excellent continuous and pulsed currents under harsh environmental conditions. "MR" or "Dual Anode" cells are often best for applications requiring moderate current. Electrochem Moderate Rate cells are available in multiple sizes and chemistries to power a wide range of applications.

Low Rate (Bobbin) Cells
Low current applications (or those requiring extremely small cells) are typically best suited to low rate "bobbin" cells. Electrochem Low Rate cells are available in multiple sizes and chemistries to power a wide range of applications.
